The Hartford Insurance Group, Inc. (HIG) reported third-quarter net income available to common stockholders of $1.3 billion, or $4.82 per diluted share, up 23% from a year earlier.

The company said in a regulatory filing that results for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026 appear in a news release and an Investor Financial Supplement.

  • Net income available to common stockholders: $1,317 million, or $4.82 per diluted share, vs. $1,074 million, or $3.77, a year earlier
  • Core earnings: $956 million, or $3.50 per diluted share, vs. $1,022 million, or $3.59, a year earlier
  • Total revenues: $7,220 million vs. $6,946 million a year earlier

Core earnings, a non-GAAP measure the company uses to track its ongoing businesses, were $956 million, or $3.50 per diluted share. That is down 6% from $1,022 million, or $3.59 per diluted share, a year earlier.

Return on equity for the trailing 12 months was 25.0% on a net income basis, up 4.7 points from 20.3% a year earlier. Core earnings ROE, which excludes accumulated other comprehensive income, was 17.9%, up 0.6 points from 17.3%.

Net realized losses were $116 million, compared with $17 million a year earlier, primarily from losses on interest rate derivatives.

Net favorable prior accident year development was $594 million before tax. That figure includes a $497 million net gain from commuting the asbestos and environmental adverse development cover, or A&E ADC.

The company said the commutation was made under a Reinsurance Commutation and Release Agreement with National Indemnity Company, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. The agreement terminated the A&E ADC and resolved an associated arbitration dispute.

Property & Casualty current accident year catastrophe losses were $198 million before tax, up from $70 million, primarily from tornado, wind and hail events.
