Principal Financial Group Inc. (PFG) said in a regulatory filing Monday that its assets under management stood at $785.0 billion as of Sept. 30, 2026.
The company files this breakdown each quarter, ahead of its quarterly earnings release. The same figures will appear in its financial supplement for the quarter, which it expects to post to its investor relations website on or about Oct. 26.
Of that total, Principal Asset Management – Investment Management managed $581.7 billion. Principal Asset Management – International Pension managed $166.2 billion.
The company said foreign currency translation, market performance, operations disposed and other items had an approximate negative impact of 1.5% on AUM, measured as a percentage of beginning-period AUM. Those items are not reported as part of net cash flow.
Operations disposed reduced AUM by $2.2 billion in the quarter, primarily due to the sale of the Chile annuity business in the International Pension unit. The filing does not give a sale price or say whether the sale has closed.
The filing also points to exposure to small- and mid-cap and international products in equity AUM, high yield and preferred securities in fixed income AUM, and exchange rate moves in emerging markets during periods of market dislocation.
